Test & Tag – Electrical Equipment Inspection and Testing

If you are a business or employer, it is your responsibility that all electrical equipment in the workplace is regularly inspected and tested to ensure a safe workplace.

Maitland Tag Team is a qualified and registered to undertake inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

We have the latest test equipment to conduct these tests.

Testing procedure

Firstly a comprehensive visual inspection is carried out to identify any defects with cords, plugs, sockets, covers and guards followed by appropriate electrical tests performed with a portable appliance tester (PAT). The electrical tests undertaken are:

  • Earth Continuity
  • Insulation Resistance
  • Earth leakage
  • Polarity

Tagging

A durable tag is then placed on the cord showing test date and retest date. Should any appliance fail the test you will be advised and the item should be removed from service until it is repaired or replaced.

Record Keeping

An inventory of all appliances tested and results of the tests will be given to you for your records. We will also remind you when retesting is due to ensure your workplace remains compliant.
